there was this ancient roman bust in my history of art textbook of a Lady from Flavia, and she had such a pretty face that I wanted to draw it. So I traced it roughly, filled in the shading, gave her some pupils and changed her hair. Originally her hair was a masterpiece of sculpting technique, this massive pile of intricate ringlets, but I thought it would look nicer (and more comfortable) longer and loose. the result was faintly seventies-ish, but that's alright...
I can't figure out her expression. It changed so much when I finished the eyes. I can't decide whether it's slightly condescending or genial. one of those art enigmas or something I guess..
anyways, I thought her face would be a perfect one for a character of mine, Ailanthy Sardis. -runs out of things to say and does the Ashlee Simpson omg-i-was-caught-lip-syncing ho down-
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
